Lamayuru to Alchi
The Lamayuru to Alchi trek is a cultural journey through some of Ladakh's most ancient and significant monasteries. This moderate trek connects two of the region's most important Buddhist sites while traversing the unique "moonland" landscape of Lamayuru and the fertile Indus Valley near Alchi.
Starting from the dramatic lunar landscape around Lamayuru Monastery (one of Ladakh's oldest), the trek passes through traditional villages, crosses mountain passes, and ends at the historic Alchi Monastery complex, famous for its ancient murals and wood carvings dating back to the 11th century.
